Born in Pisa in 1986, Riccardo Gnudi completed his studies in organ performance and organ composition at the “Luigi Cherubini” Conservatory of Music in Florence, the Royal College of Organists in London (ARCO Diploma), the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music of Rome-Vatican (Post-Gradum in organ repertoire of the 20th century) and the Academy of Music “Artisten”, University of Gothenburg (Master of Fine Arts in organ and historical keyboards in the class of H. Davidsson and J. Speerstra, with a thesis about the North German Choral-fantasy).
He has attended courses held by internationally renowned organists including
J. Scott, L. Lohmann, H. Vogel, H. Fagius, D. Roth in Rome, Florence, Paris, Gothenburg, London and at well-known institutions including the University of Cambridge and Oxford.
Active both as a concert performer and composer, he has performed throughout
Europe and his compositions have been performed in Denmark, Sweden, Germany, England, Canada and the USA. He has the title of “Hausund Hofkomponist” at the German choir Vocapella Köln, for which he composes on commission.
Formerly Titular Organist and Musical Director of the National Church of S. Stefano dei Cavalieri and Second Organist at Pisa Cathedral, he moved to Sweden in 2015, where he worked as an organist in various parishes in Gothenburg. In July 2017, he gained the full-time organist position at Karlskoga church, where he founded and directs the Cappella Musicale made up of professional singers and musicians. Founder and artistic director of the Karlskoga Organ Academy (Karlskoga Orgelakademi), he regularly holds interpretation courses of Italian early music at the Neapolitan baroque organ.
Dedicated to artistic research in Music, he has published a book on the history of the Swedish organ, published by Campano Edizioni, Pisa, in October 2020.
